Why 3 months? What the hair cycle dictates

« It's been two weeks, I can't see anything. »

It is the most common sentence about any hair routine, and it is perfectly logical. Two weeks is the pace at which we judge a face cream or a toothpaste. On hair, it is a unit of time that means nothing.

Here is why — and what it changes about how you choose a format.

Hair does not work continuously

Each follicle runs in cycles, independently of its neighbours. That is why we never have all our hair at the same stage at the same time.

A cycle has three phases:

The active phase. The follicle produces the fibre. This is the long phase: it lasts several years — from 2 to 6 years depending on the person, often longer in women. At any given moment, the vast majority of follicles are in this phase.

The transition phase. A few weeks. Activity gradually stops.

The resting phase. About 3 months. The follicle is at rest; the fibre receives nothing more. At the end of the phase it detaches and the follicle starts a new cycle.

Remember that last figure above all. The shortest of the three phases already lasts 3 months.

What that implies

What you see on your head today was made months ago. A hair 10 cm from the scalp was produced about 8 months ago — the fibre advances roughly 1.2 cm per month.

In other words: nothing you do today can change what has already emerged. The visible fibre is a keratin structure with no living cell. It is maintained — it is not remade.

That is what makes a 2-week assessment impossible. Not because the product needs « a fair chance », but because hair's timescale is not skin's.

Why 3 months, and not 1 or 6

3 months is not a rounded marketing figure. It is the order of magnitude of the shortest phase of the cycle: the duration below which you observe a moment, not a period.

It is also the span over which a habit holds. A hair routine does not demand intense effort, it demands regularity: 15 mL in the morning, 2 to 3 applications a week. What makes a course fail is almost never the product — it is the bottle that runs out after 33 days and does not get replaced.

That is why we recommend 3 months, and why the 3-Month Course exists: 3 bottles of biotin and 2 oils, the full duration, with no gap in the middle. €130 instead of €170 bought separately — €1.44 a day.

The System covers 1 month. It is the right format to try, not to conclude.

What 3 months does not guarantee

We have to be clear, because the whole sector lies on this point.

3 months is not a promise of results. It is a recommended duration of use. We will not tell you what you will see at the end, nor when, nor how much — because nobody can know, and because regulation allows us to claim only two things: biotin contributes to the maintenance of normal hair, vitamin C contributes to the reduction of tiredness.

The rest depends on factors a bottle does not control: diet, sleep, hormones, season, stress, genetics, ongoing treatments. A routine is added to all that. It does not replace it.

What we can guarantee lies in what is verifiable: the composition, the proportions, the country of manufacture and the certification. Everything is published, ingredient by ingredient, on the Our formulas page.

What to remember

  • The shortest phase of the cycle already lasts 3 months.
  • What is visible today was produced several months ago.
  • Regularity counts more than intensity: 15 mL every day for 3 months beats double that for 3 weeks.
  • No duration guarantees anything. It only makes the observation honest.

COMAI BIOTINE is a food supplement for adults only, 18 and over. Do not exceed 15 mL per day. A food supplement does not replace a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. Keep out of reach of young children.
